چکیده

Abstract. This paper studies a random walk based on random transvections in SLn(Fq,) and shows that, given 6 > 0, there is a constant c such that after n + c steps the walk is within a distance e from uniform and that after nc steps the walk is a distance at least 1 e from uniform. This paper uses results of Diaconis and Shahshahani to get the upper bound, uses results of Rudvalis to get the lower bound, and briefly considers some other random walks on SLn(Fq) to compare them with random transvections.

Generating Antithetic Random Variates in Simulation of a Replacement Process by Rejection Method

When the times between renewals in a renewal process are not exponentially distributed, simulation can become a viable method of analysis. The renewal function is estimated through simulation for a renewal process simulation for a renewal process with gamma distributed renewal times and the shape parameter a > 1. Gamma random deviates will be generated by means of the so called Acceptance Rejec...

Probability Generating Functions for Sattolo’s Algorithm

In 1986 S. Sattolo introduced a simple algorithm for uniform random generation of cyclic permutations on a fixed number of symbols. Recently, H. Prodinger analysed two important random variables associated with the algorithm, and found their mean and variance. H. Mahmoud extended Prodinger’s analysis by finding limit laws for the same two random variables. The present article, starting from the ...

Dependent Lattice Random Elements

In this study, we first introduce the Banach lattice random elements and some of their properties. Then, using the order defined in Banach lattice space, we introduce and characterize the order negatively dependence Banach lattice random elements by the order defined in Banach lattice space. Finally, we obtain some limit theorems for the sequence of order negatively dependence Banach lattice ra...

GENERIC THINNESS IN FINITELY GENERATED SUBGROUPS OF SLn(Z)

We show that for any n ≥ 2, two elements selected uniformly at random from a symmetrized Euclidean ball of radius X in SLn(Z) will generate a thin free group with probability tending to 1 as X → ∞. This is done by showing that the two elements will form a ping-pong pair, when acting on a suitable space, with probability tending to 1. On the other hand, we give an upper bound less than 1 for the...
